Quiet resort, in the north-western part of the island directly by the sea, 47 km from Castlebar, 119 km from Galway, 365 km from Rosslare. For arrivals by plane: airport Knock (West Ireland) (NOC) 97 km, Shannon (SNN) 210 km. Varied and wild scenery, with mountains, open moorland and dramatic cliffs. Keel Bay is regarded as one of Europe's best beaches. Lots of archaeological remains on the island, one of which is the Deserted Village.
